getting ready for:

london

who I am

My name is Sandi and like all humans, I am many things. Some moments find me optimistic, sometimes while questioning the goodness of humanity. I am a natural planner who schedules time to be spontaneous. I’m laughing in nearly every situation, and I also take life very seriously (because it’s serious business - we are here only once!).

On the surface, some of our traits can appear like contradictions to others and maybe even ourselves. But that’s only because to our detriment, we’ve learned that to be understood, we need to make ourselves simpler to understand. In our own unique ways, we contribute incomparable beauty to the world through the deep complexities of what makes us who we are.

I formally trained to be an architect because I wanted to make peoples’ lives better through design of the built environment. I still do. After years in design, I realized that I’m most passionate about what SHOULD be built or pursued, and WHY.

I left a job I loved in November 2021. My ambition had me giving 110% in every job I’ve had. Through the pandemic, while we were losing so many and so much, I realized that I had also lost myself in my work.

I embarked upon a season of exploration. Exploration of my city, my surroundings, my limits, my health, my relationships, my passions, and regular ol’ not-for-dollar-profit interests.

Now in 2024, what I continue to find is that we have agency to design the lives we want and the roles we play (with our own unique set of constraints, opportunities, and privileges).

As I keep exploring and experiencing life, I’ll be carving out space to reflect here - partly for my future self to remember how this journey felt in the moment, and partly as a process to ensure that my explorations continue to be aligned with my values.
